{"id":618,"date":"2013-02-24T17:32:24","date_gmt":"2013-02-24T17:32:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/?p=618"},"modified":"2013-02-24T17:47:19","modified_gmt":"2013-02-24T17:47:19","slug":"photography-portfolio-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/photography-portfolio-part-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Photography Portfolio &#8211; part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(This is the\u00a0next installment following <a title=\"Photography Portfolio - part 1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/?p=608\">Photography Portfolio &#8211; part 1<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Having sent out two sets of\u00a0images, each to a different lab for printing,\u00a0 I have received both sets of prints.\u00a0 They all look great.\u00a0 Both sets were printed on archival inkjet paper, but two different brands \u2026 Epson Premium Luster for the sports images and Museo Silver Rag for nature\/landscape.\u00a0 Premium luster is a lightly coated paper with a very slight pearl texture.\u00a0 Although I have seen Museo Silver Rag referred to as luster, I am inclined to say that it is semi-matte (one notch below luster), with a subtle sheen and subtle paper texture.\u00a0 The density of black color is not as good on Silver Rag (compared to the Epson Premium Luster), but is quite good considering this is an uncoated paper.\u00a0 In retrospect, I am very happy with both choices.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_619\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-619\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=619\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-619\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-619\" alt=\"Acadia National Park\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Davis12_9767_HDR.jpg\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Davis12_9767_HDR.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Davis12_9767_HDR-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-619\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Acadia National Park<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For sports images, I mounted each to a pure black presentation board.\u00a0 The presentation boards were pre-cut to size and are solid black through the core.\u00a0 From the print lab, each print had a broad white border; I trimmed down the borders to maybe 1\/16 inch before mounting to boards.<\/p>\n<p>For nature images, I did not want black or white, so I selected an off-white color mat board.\u00a0 General-purpose mat board can be inexpensive, but depends upon the particular board.\u00a0 Sheets 32&#215;40\u201d may cost less than $9. But this is only practical if you have the tools to easily and accurately cut the boards.<\/p>\n<p>All said and done, including shipping, 32 prints cost me more than $400. Mounting boards cost an additional $1.20 &#8211; $2.00 per print.\u00a0 A spray-can of adhesive can cost as little as $10 for non-archival and as much as $20 for acid-free archival.\u00a0\u00a0 Because a portfolio is not meant to last forever, there is no point in spending extra dollars for acid free adhesive or acid-free mounting boards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(This is the\u00a0next installment following Photography Portfolio &#8211; part 1.)
