{"id":464,"date":"2012-08-27T14:49:17","date_gmt":"2012-08-27T14:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/?p=464"},"modified":"2012-10-25T12:52:22","modified_gmt":"2012-10-25T12:52:22","slug":"pixel-rw-221-wireless-remote-camera-trigger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/pixel-rw-221-wireless-remote-camera-trigger\/","title":{"rendered":"Pixel RW-221 wireless remote camera trigger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some situations require remotely triggering a camera.\u00a0 The RW-221 is an inexpensive remote trigger.\u00a0 It looks well made and worked well in my initial testing, however &#8230; the first time I ever used the RW-221\u00a0for a real shoot, it broke.<\/p>\n<p>There was a dense crowd of people in Boston that day and someone tried to squeeze between me and the shrubbery &#8230; I lost balance and pushed hard on the button of the RW-221.\u00a0 The button slid into the plastic case such that it could not pop-up (the normal un-pressed state).\u00a0 I was on location and had no backup for this tool.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Davis12_1981.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-465 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Davis12_1981-300x177.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Davis12_1981-300x177.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kevindavisphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Davis12_1981.jpg 648w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upon taking it apart, I found that the plastic button is supported by a very small plastic pin, which easily snapped under pressure.\u00a0\u00a0 Although I repaired it with a bit of glue, I have to conclude the following:<br \/>\n1) due to a design flaw, the RW-221 is not robust\/reliable; be gentle.<br \/>\n2)\u00a0always have a backup for your equipment<br \/>\n2) anyone who has this device or is\u00a0purchasing it new, take it apart and re-inforce the pin with a bit of epoxy<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some situations require remotely triggering a camera.\u00a0 The RW-221 is an inexpensive remote trigger.\u00a0 It looks well made and worked well in my initial testing, however &#8230; the first time I ever used the RW-221\u00a0for a real shoot, it broke.
